Beech Mountain has some of the best golfing around, with some of the best public golf courses. Some of the most challenging golf courses are found on or around Beech Mountain.

The Beech Mountain Club is a private 18-hole golf course designed by William Byrd. Our hotel guests also have guest priviliges at the club facilities. Please check back for our special golf packages. The beautiful 18-hole ridge-top layout stretches over elevations between 4,200 and 4,700 feet providing respite from summer heat with average temperature rarely exceeding 72 degrees.

Tom Jackson has developed a master plan to renovate and extend the existing course from 6,099 yards to over 6,250 yards. Golfers enjoy excellent vistas of mountain ranges in Tennessee and Virginia. A new practice facility opened in 2007 provides ample opportunity to improve your game and avail yourself of the professional staff and their teaching expertise.

The Sugar Mountain Golf Course is a public course located in the lovely town of sugar mountain, only a 15 minute drive from the hotel. The Sugar Mountain Golf Club may be the best kept secret in mountain golf.The 18-hole municipal course is “Everyman’s Golf Course” in a region home to some of the world’s premiere private country club communities.

Designed by the late Frank Duane, longtime project manager for Robert Trent Jones, Sr., the executive course at Sugar Mountain features 9-par threes, 8 par fours and a single par five. At an elevation of 4,000 feet, the course features immaculate putting surfaces, hailed by those who play here as second to none. The layout courses through a verdant land rich in laurel and rushing streams and exploits every panoramic view the property possesses. Best of all, the course delivers an enjoyable experience for players of all skill levels.

Visitors will find golf at Sugar Mountain affordable and accessible. Rates vary during the season which opens early April and concludes the end of October. Walk specials are available every afternoon, as are twilight rates with cart. Find out what thousands before have already discovered. The Sugar Mountain Golf Club is a “must play” while visiting the North Carolina mountains.

The Boone Golf Club is a semi-private course designed by architect Ellis Maples. It has been the venue for many professional and amateur events.

The Mountain Glen Golf Club is operated by the Avery Development Corporation. It is located just outside of Newland, NC; a 15 minute drive from the hotel on Hwy 194 past Elk Park, NC. This facility opened in 1963. The club consists of the 18-hole golf course, club house with large upstairs dinning facility for special events or occasions, proshop, snack bar, driving range, golf shed and putting green.
